Thaddaeus Washington
Thaddaeus Washington is a multifaceted musician whose passion for music began at a young age. Growing up, he was drawn to the guitar playing of his father, Lenny, and at the age of 13, he decided to pick up the instrument himself. Prior to that, Thaddaeus had honed his musical skills as a drummer, playing in his local church.
Despite never learning how to read music formally, Thaddaeus developed a unique talent for playing by ear, which his jazz band teacher encouraged him to cultivate. This approach has taken him on a remarkable journey, allowing him to perform in a wide range of settings, from local churches to larger venues, including NBA games where he has had the honor of performing the national anthem.
In recent years, Thaddaeus has channeled his musical gifts into a transformative initiative, creating “Mind Music” – soulful meditation music that blends his guitar playing with the natural sounds of the environment. This collaboration with local Metroparks in Toledo, Ohio, has resulted in the album “Common Ground,” which aims to foster mindfulness, stress reduction, and a deeper connection with nature.
Thaddaeus’s approach to music is not merely about entertainment; it is a tool for personal growth and community well-being. Through his “Mindful Meetup” events, he brings people together for meditation and sharing, creating a space for mental and emotional healing.
As Thaddaeus continues to share his music and inspire others, his story serves as a testament to the power of following one’s passions and using creative expression as a means to make a positive impact on the world.
